Choir in the Cathedral at Dusk
León
An open rehearsal of the León Cathedral choir at dusk, in 200-year-old acoustics.
Why this exists.
Light comes through the stained glass at the end of the rehearsal.
León Cathedral is the largest in Central America and has unique acoustics. The resident choir rehearses on Thursday evenings and once a month opens the rehearsal to a small group of guests. The experience is simply sitting in the central nave and listening for an hour: sacred, Latin American traditional, and always a Nicaraguan piece to close. Light shifts through the rehearsal as evening falls and the stained glass dims. You leave in silence. A contemplative experience, ideal to attend alone.
